When deciding to study abroad, many students are often hesitant about leaving the country for an entire semester, but Florence Ardon, a senior majoring in English literature, took it a step further and decided to stay for an entire academic year. She studied at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata, Japan.

Live on campus this summer for as little as $107/week!

If you are planning to stay in the area this summer, consider the convenience and affordability of staying in the residence halls. Summer housing is available in Panther Village and Shull Hall. All rooms are air conditioned! Students do not need to be enrolled in summer classes to live on campus during the summer. The Service and Leadership Council has volunteer opportunities. Volunteer Tuesdays are from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Green Iowa Americans George Wyth Park Clean-up will be April 4; Boys and Girls Club, April 11; and Northeast Iowa Food Bank, April 18. Stop and Serve events will be from 7 to 8 p.m., Mondays, April 3 and 17, in the Oak Room, MAU. Sign up in advance.

Workshop production of 'I'll Be Seeing You'

UNISTA will host the workshop production of "I'll Be Seeing You" at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, in 108 CAC. The production is written and directed by student Colin Mattox. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

Spring Diversity Showcase 2017

The International Student Association will host the Spring Diversity Showcase at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, in the Coffeehouse, MAU. The show highlights campus diversity through a cultural talent show of music and dance, a fashion show and traditional activities from around the world. A variety of international foods will be available for sampling. Groups or individuals wanting to participate in the talent show should email ISA.

LGBTQ+ Clothing Closet

Are you doing spring cleaning? The LGBT* Center is organizing a free LGBTQ+ Clothing Closet Monday and Tuesday, April 3-4, at Threehouse. Gently used clothing should be dropped off at the LGBT* Center by Friday, March 31. For more information, email the LGBT* Center.

Victoria Hurst, public administration and political science, was honored recently as the Young Woman of Tomorrow by the YWCA during its 2015 Cedar Valley Women of Persimmon Awards luncheon.

The UNI American Advertising Federation placed first at the District 9 National Student Advertising Competition. The 16 winning district teams across the country will now compete in a semi-final round.

Olivia Mossman, a senior electronic media communications major, was named the Most Outstanding Intern by the American Advertising Federation Stickell Internship Advisory Board for her work last summer in New York City at global media agency Carat.

Molly Rome, a UNI senior majoring in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)/Spanish, has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to Argentina for an English Teaching Assistantship.
